What's in your backyard?

Hi there! I'm so happy to be finally sharing pictures via my first ever blog, which has been in the planning stage for quite some time. This is an exciting time for me. So, you can assume I am very excited about it. Okay, enough of me gushing. Let's get right to it and let’s begin with a question: ‘What’s in your backyard?’ So, just what does that mean, if you‘re as oblivious as I am sometimes, Well, to put it simply is, I plan to show you what’s just out your window. I want to show you that you don't have to travel across the world to find magnificent places to take photos at. In fact, your own area, or region, just might be more amazing than you realize. Also perhaps by providing insight for those who live nearby of things they might not have been aware of? However, before we go any further, I must address that this blog, initially, is about informing the residents of California about the places they can go to for personal enrichment, and do so without spending a lot of money.

Well hello there amigo!

Well hello there amigo!

The photo of my friend above was taken at the beautiful Little Corona, which is one of the two beaches here. The other one is Corona Del Mar State Beach also known as Big Brother Beach. The fascinating differences between these beaches are why I love them both. Little Corona has tide pools in it, along with rock formations all throughout and my favorite which is the sea caves you can explore. In my opinion it is actually the bigger of the two. (Hint: this place is less crowded than the other)  So… why is the other one called the Big Brother?  Well that’s because the beach is also popular with surfers, divers, volleyball players and sunbathers. It has rocky cliffs that surround it.

Adventure Awaits!

One of the many breathtaking sights you will see on this beach.

The rock in this picture is one of my favorites captures at the beach. Looking out towards it while the sunsets gives me such calm. It’s my little piece of Zen therapy whenever I come here. The locals call it “Arch rock.” I am sure by now with the photos and the information I have given about this place you’re ready to jump in the car and head over here already. Well before you do might I offer some suggestions before exploring Little Corona for yourself? First thing I would suggest is to Google the current tide chart for the day. Its essential for exploring the tide pools and sea caves. Here is a quick checklist for your consideration:

  • Water shoes or shoes with good traction
  • Camera
  • Tripod
  • Neutral density filters
  • Bathing suit
  • Flashlight or headlamps
  • Snacks
  • Drinks
  • First Aid Kit
